british deep house veteran sir lord commix is the latest producer to hand over dats of forgotten late 90s studio sessions to the team behind for those that knoe. predictably, they ve chosen four great cuts to release. first up you ll find the elastic synths, alien melodies and fizzing motor city percussion of early tech-house style shuffler -pieces of dream-, before the p-funk-influenced uk-us garage fusion of -leroy garage- takes us in an altogether breezier direction. flip for the jovonn style synthesizer melodies and groovy garage rhythms of -new jersey-, and the electro-inspired intelligent techno dreaminess of -destiny-.

spain s slow town rarely fails to deliver the goods. split, so called because it contains tracks from numerous artists, more than lives up to the label s rising reputation. it probably helps that the a-side comes from former bent man and longtime east midlands deep house stalwart nail. his -shake back- explores similar sonic territory to pepe bradock s -deep burnt-, whilst retaining the chunky, bass-heavy bottom-end recognizable from his releases for classic, shabby doll and robsoul recordings. on the flip, there s an equally assured cut from london stalwarts jonno & tommo. -wolf spirit- is an altogether more tech-tinged affair, built around a restless electronic bassline, hypnotic percussion and woozy, late night chords.

sensation/clear was phantasys momentous fiftieth release, and the first studio transmission from daniel avery since his acclaimed lp, drone logic. now, both tracks are remixed in distinctive fashion by two fellow outliers on the fringes of psychedelic, experimental techno. acclaimed producer and eaux records mastermind rrose commits a typically ambitious and sonically experimental redux to sensation. while retaining much of the originals hypnotic, almost celestial groove, its atmospherics are transformed into something altogether more alien and overwhelming, culminating in an epic yet utterly earned conclusion of visceral noise. abdulla rashim meanwhile guides the sound of clear into deeper territory still, engineering an initially unassuming remix that ultimately reveals layer upon layer of painstaking detail. polyrhythmic bass lines interlock expertly from the beginning, gradually unfolding while never relenting.

manchester-based duo shield patterns return on september 2nd with a new album entitled mirror breathing. released on band member richard knox’s own gizeh records label, mirror breathing follows on from the critically acclaimed debut album contour lines in 2014 and 2015’s violet ep. where it’s predecessors took a more stark, electronic and processed approach, mirror breathing is an altogether warmer, more cinematic record.

fideles is the joint moniker of italian duo daniele aprile and mario roberti, who have carved out a niche for their distinctive brand of deep, techy house on noted labels such as defected, be as one, and marco resmann’s upon you, among others. here on their first outing for poker flat recordings, the duo cook up four courses of lean, focussed tech-house for steve bug’s seminal imprint. ‘detuned’ starts the journey - an edgy, tense groove exhibiting the boy’s masterful sound design and use of space to create a thick, intoxicated atmosphere. ‘i’m rude’ is more direct - a thumping bass drum introduces a low slung bass groove, slowly evolving and mutating into a true party-starter. ‘worthy’ uses similar building blocks but delivers a different vibe altogether, revelling in a minimalist production aesthetic and cheeky bass riff. ‘ran baran’, the title track, is another lesson in great production - each element perfectly balanced to create an atmosphere of controlled mayhem - which is exactly the response this entire ep aims to instigate on dancefloors.

recently appearing on the mighty crosstown rebels with a remix of shaun j. wright & alinka ‘face the truth’, sought after duo audiojack are back serving up a solid two-track release in the form of ‘turya’. turya is built for serious heads down sessions fusing subtle acid pads with soaring synths and sonorous spoken words. the hypnotic quality of the teacher’s words beguiles and entrances the dance floor, allowing people to lose themselves in them and its evolving groove. ‘event horizon’ is a different beast altogether, with a heavy drum and bass vibe, a four-four format, and a classic -amen- break beat style. in 2015 audiojack launched their sunday social free party at veto club in their home of ibiza, which after a strong season will continue this year. their first essential mix recently dropped on radio 1 and a string of highly successful releases and remixes on labels such as hot creations, tsuba, 20/20 vision and their own gruuv has solidified their place in the dance music elite. it’s safe to say that 2016 is proving to be a big year for the talented duo.

way back in 1996, at the height of the widely acknowledged golden period for electronic music, d-saw a.k.a andré winter released a true classic on hamburgs highly influential superstition label. track 10:30 stood the test of time, becoming widely regarded as a key moment in european techno music history, despite its modest impact at the time. now, 20 years later, andré revisits the source material courtesy of some killer remixes on oliver huntemanns senso imprint. hamburg’s own h.o.s.h. (holger behn) delivers an epic twist to the cut, widening out the spaces and adding his own techy signature to the original. re.you offer up another flavour altogether, maintaining the iconic synth pulse of the source but introducing an infectious, driving groove. dubspeeka throw a bit more grit in into proceedings with a tough, machine funk mix, while andre winter himself reworks his classic into a slow burning groover that effortlessly showcases the elements that make this track so timeless.

grow label returns with its ninth offering, an ep of four choice original works, each a very deep and specific imagination alive with detail. the artist creator this time is plantae who offers his first vinyl ep and it is altogether a refreshingly original experience. plantaes tracks are characterised by momentous baselines underlying layer upon layer of organic texture and intricate primal percussion, which come together for a sound quite otherworldly. descriptive in nature and so filled with peculiarity *tigshameran* is an album and experience hard to grasp, but this is one of its charms, and its originality will keep you coming back, time and again discovering new moments of intrigue. a very respectable debut record from plantae!

almost exactly three years after nr&, a project uniting &me’s and rampa’s production with the voice of new york disco-house-siren nomi, dropped their debut ep, we finally can announce a new chapter in this ongoing transatlantic menage. this very “spoken for” ep is comprised of two new tracks, that again fuse songwriting with floor-demands and showcase the same crackling and pulse quickening passion that instantly has become nr&’s trademark. so here’s the evidence – a long distance relationship is not necessarily doomed to get boring after a while. “taste like” on a might be conceived as the club-affair of those two new joints. a tune indulging in self-control, extending the pre- eruptive moment of excitement to track length. there is nomi’s unmistakeable sexed up oration, flanked by an affirmative thunderstorm of claps, then a bass heavy bridge, overflowing into a noise brushed finale. altogether a tasty flavour carrier for an effective floor heating. “spoken for” is not only the title track, but also the hymn coming out of the flipside ambush. there is no kick necessary to underpin what nomi’s charismatic croon is laying down. therefore a wise choice to let the arrangement of interspersed field recordings, percussive details and piano- and synth-decoration exercise in unobtrusiveness. safe to say, this tune will refine many future peaktimes anyway.

northside ‘82 is proud to welcome smart bar resident savile to the label for our second release. entitled suffer play, this three track ep imagines an alternate reality where minimal house takes an extended detour through chicago, strapping on the city’s famous jacking percussion for a more robust but equally razor sharp sound. “spaced” opens the record with a jolt of jacking house, pairing a limber bass line with tense percussion and pinpoint vocal samples. “1pm morning” is inviting and warm, a richly crafted environment lit by by resonating bass, wallpapered with sharpened guitar strums, and decorated with jangling percussion and clavinet accents. closer, “recipes from nowhere”, is the dreamiest of them all, letting melodies bubble around the track’s bass line backbone and swaddling listeners in melancholic pads. altogether an exceptional record from one of the city’s brightest young.

after a blazing start, low budget family return ! the celebrated independent moscow-based record label run by the crew behind the legendary shop&bar denis simachev deliver another stunner from simple symmetry mimino is another tropical house delight, all burly rhythms, punchy marimba, synth rises & anthemic chants before crescendoing into a whirling dervish of a top line the instrumental loses the synth-out and follows an altogether more atmospheric, but no less tremendous path simsim wraps things up in fine middle eastern fusion style, traditional instrumentation and melody underpinned by a snapping 808 drummachine jam zouk it and see !

through the spirit realm is refracteds first lp to date, and it comes canadas excellent silent season, a home to rasmus hedlund, quantec, and asc, among others. enter the jungle quickly gives a picture of what s to come thanks to the track s abstract blend of animal sounds, a myriad of noises which is swallowed up the warm and dubby swings of the jungle is thick, a donato dozzy kinda lick. the whole lp follows a similar string of thought, one that binds stripped back techno together with deep ambience and slow moving plates of drone, the ritual begins is simply hypnotic and we could keep it on for hours on loop. its tribalism at its most cutting-edge, and an altogether fantastic debut performance from this growing techno personality.

helsinkis lauri saine is the storyteller for this, the third chapter of fools & fables. pleasingly his irresistible releases dont come along all that often, but when they do, they justifiably make serious waves. small remedies, takes us on a journey to a side of saine we seldom see. first things first, blush cuts a breezy, cheerful path through a warm analogue space, with the mid-tempo throb of sampled rhythms to keep you from drifting too far off course. casual wears altogether looser pants as we just bob to and fro in a hammock while rum-soaked session players jam away in a distant speakeasy. the tropical breeze blows free through leisure song too, as we begin to get the impression finland might actually be a small pacific island.

already known worldwide for his one of a kind techno productions and dj sets, oliver deutschmann is a name that wont fade anytime soon. since launching his label vidab records in 2007, he has seen a steady amount of releases on his own imprint as well as other establish labels such as aim and soma quality recordings. after teasing us this summer with keep rising oliver returns to mobilee this fall for a full length ep featuring his signature techno sound. taking us on a mental journey we are delivered three solid techno thumpers that will work wonders at the peak hours of any set. the ep will bring the crowd into a world of pure techno bliss with heavy kicks, hypnotizing pads, and a dash of acid to tie it altogether in a cohesive package.

rounding off the vinyl series that accompanies themas label-defining strength in numbers compilation, part 4 downsizes from 12 inch to 7 inch to present two distinctive jams that show some of the farthest reaches of the new york imprints sound. laurine frost may be best known as part of the nonconformist house and techno scene of europe through releases on perspectiv, sharingtones and nervmusic, but on this special creation for thema he makes the perfect tribute to the city that gave rise to the label, with a little help from the racy diatribe of amiri baraka on “your house”. by way of a truly special finale for the series, minneapolis maverick dj slip graces the label with an all-too rare appearance, taking an altogether more primal approach on “x7” that channels his years spent conjuring up next level techno for missile, music man and more into a taut and punchy electro excursion infected with tricked out effects and seductive sci-fi noir atmospherics. it’s the perfect example of the freaky fringes thema has comfortably reached to over the course of the last forty releases.

matches sets the scene alight in the early months of 2015 with this multi-faceted four track burner on arkhive london. having cut his teeth on the east london party circuit as a dj under various monikers, matches has carved a superior workout inspired by some of motor citys foremost ambassadors of dark funk. this package is a full expose of his range as a producer, starting out with some early evening swagger before easing through the gears to a climax of an altogether housier ilk.

with iyewaye, the first solo-ep after the release of his fifth album i am ok last year, oliver koletzki shows himself in a new, but not altogether unfamiliar light: since his breakthrough in 2005 with der mückenschwarm koletzki hasnt sounded this hard. gone is the pop-angle, replaced by a dark sound-aesthetic and raw energy. but even here, in the techno realm, oliver koletzki demonstrates his inimitable sense for melody: thus, the gloomy and driving framework of iyewaye is lit up by a crystal-clear synth-sequence. similarly, ipuza, which hypnotizes by way of reduction and repetition, is funky in its core thanks to a rolling tribal groove. functional, but with heart and soul.

originally hailing from slovakia but now based out of berlin just_me has been slowly making waves on the underground having previously released for baile music, 1trax and act natural respectively, as well remixing alongside the likes of hector, laura jones and the great todd terry. not a label to pigeon hole ourselves to any one genre or style of house or techno we are constantly looking to push the boundaries on the music we release with the pattern ep we have done just that! as just_me brings us two original deep, stripped back and dubbed out cuts adding some atmospheric and acidic tinges along the way. on the remix duties we have two very capable artists first up is cocoon s martinez who has shown us his new deeper side with an altogether tougher but minimal groove and feel on pattern 01 and to complete the remixes desolat s fosky brings a much more energetic approach to pattern 02. !

dense & pikas kneaded pains label arrives kicking and screaming into 2015 with another raw n raucous ep, this time from blake stone. deftone sets the scene nicely with a nice slab of heads down warehouse techno, good 2 me uses a well known sample for an altogether more sunnier track whilst flipsides cruel tone tightens up the beats for a very modern sounding slice of peak time action whilst affected once again delves in the darker side of things with a low-down dirty stomper.

san francisco-based dj/producer nick monaco has long been part of the soul clap family, releasing his first 12- on the label back in 2012. mating call, a double 12- set running at album length, is easily his most expansive release yet. it s typically eccentric, delivering a range of songs - featuring his own distinctive vocals - that blend numerous styles whilst retaining a loose, funky and altogether rather kaleidoscopic feel. it s rooted in balearic pop, but also touches on dub, deep house, boogie, dub disco and a strangely deep and contemporary take on the triple-beat rhythms of glam rock. it s hard to accurately describe, but is really rather good, certainly, it s one of soul clap s strongest releases of recent times.

london based producers ethyl & flori continue their recent rebirth with a classy ep on sudden drop, *white lotus rebellion* kicks things off with a simmering house groove, *sidestep* takes things in an altogether different direction, harnessing the energy of the baser side of uk nightlife whilst *shorthand* rides a more traditional techno route with its bigger room vibe.

federsen returns to fifth interval for another sublime instalment of dance floor friendly dub-techno. dewpoint is an altogether tighter affair when compared to the label s first release, point reyes. the drums are taut and razor-sharp, propelling the listener effortlessly through a dense fog of ferric clouds, swelling to fill the outer-reaches of the echo chamber. a highly polished metallic production style that can be compared to some of andy stott s early and classic works. tomas rubek remixes dewpoint for the b-side, remaining faithful to the original track s structure but viewing it through a tinted lens. dewpoint s chords become iridescent, kick drums fall into a straighter pattern and are backed by further dusty percussion, shifting the original into spheres inhabited by the likes of rod modell and fluxion.

slow town records has really picked up the pace this year, delivering essential 12- singles from riccio and qx-i, amongst others. here, they round of 2014 with an ep of positively edible deep house from fouk man hans peeman. in typical peeman fashion, there s plenty of soul to the liquid beats and rich chords of -prologue-, while -monologue- is an attractive saunter through classic detroit deep house with the restless energy of a chicago production. mr k-s remixes the title track, delivering a heavily percussive version that sounds like a plea to head towards the dancefloor, pronto. a touch darker and altogether heavier, it offers an excellent alternative to peeman s eyes-wide-shut original.

fvonk is ready to start on an adventure full of housey tunes and positive vibes. for record number 001 drei farben house from berlin lives up to the labels name and delivers three highly funky tracks which draw their inspiration from warm and melodic soul and disco music from back in the days. 70s inspired vocals and bass guitars dominate these pieces and are combined with fluently rolling drums, altogether carrying drei farben house s characteristic thumbprint. the artwork of the record has been concieved by till sperrle who is also known for his graphic design for dial and tenderpark. mastering and lacqeur cut have been realised by stefan betke at scape mastering.

fish go deep return with a double header of intense electronic house music. over a muscular rhythm track, turning stones builds layer upon layer of melody before a jagged synth riff knocks the track into another orbit altogether. the dub takes a different path, with a steady rhythmic pulse that allows plenty of space for the music to soar.

official 2014 re-issue of hm 1002 released in 1983 limited 100 copies on red vinyl limited 300 copies on standard black vinyl / picture cover / limited supplies / this record comes from the peak era of italo-disco. this release is pure quality, genius, so simple yet so brilliant. from the guys who brought the amazingly beautiful -stop / livin up- release under bwh. this record is equally amazing, with a spectacular drumbeat and very nicely layered synth, parallel to -stop- in brilliance and sequence, but a bit simpler and slightly shorter. its a shame that this track is only 4:30 long and that the duo released only a handful of italo-disco gems altogether under the aliases of bwh, blackway and mr master.

official 2014 re-issue of hm 1002 released in 1983 limited 100 copies on red vinyl limited 300 copies on standard black vinyl / picture cover / limited supplies / 1st copies on red vinyl this record comes from the peak era of italo-disco. this release is pure quality, genius, so simple yet so brilliant. from the guys who brought the amazingly beautiful -stop / livin up- release under bwh. this record is equally amazing, with a spectacular drumbeat and very nicely layered synth, parallel to -stop- in brilliance and sequence, but a bit simpler and slightly shorter. its a shame that this track is only 4:30 long and that the duo released only a handful of italo-disco gems altogether under the aliases of bwh, blackway and mr master.

this release sees ante perry team up with a host of names in his very own studio in dortmund. first up belgian artist maxim lany is the first to accompany him in a deeply warm number named honigmitmais , a track possessing a sullen resonating sub-bass and romantic piano stabs with male vocal coos scattered throughout. xtc1 with german artist dirty doering then shifts the mood, dominated by a low-end unmistakably perry with the addition of pitched down vocals and eerie atmospherics make for a trippier track altogether.

the goal with supernova was to look back to the disco era but with a synth heavy and altogether more cosmic twist. alex is a big fun of modern russian classical music composing style. also he was inspired by early english progressive scene (yes, elo etc). this is why u-kas melodic lines are long and not so straight sometimes. and oleg is musically far from academic school and prefers zappa, early german electronic and psychedelic krautrock etc.
